Scitech After Dark: Dinosaurs

Around two weeks ago I went to an event with my coworker/friend for her birthday. Scitech is a interactive science museum/discovery centre, aimed towards children. School groups usually go, and I remember that I went while I was in primary school.

Luckily, Scitech realised that adults wanted to play too, especially without children around! So Scitech After Dark is a series of 18+ events with alcohol available for purchase (although I don't drink). This time there was a dinosaur theme.

My friend and I arrived early and stayed till close, so we got to look at everything and play with a lot of cool stuff. They also had shows in the Planetarium, and a puppet show!

I wore:
Dress: ASOS
Cardigan: ??
Tights: We Love Colors
Shoes: TUK creepers
Bag: Rubi Shoes
Necklace: ?? Present from birthday
Glasses: Clearly Contacts

They had a part where you could poke your head inside an aquarium!

This fishy was staring at me :)

We had a great time at Scitech!

My Colouring Book Collection

Adult colouring books are the currently popular, and I'm glad. I love colouring books!!
Because colouring books are so popular now, they're easy to purchase and they cover a lot of really cool categories (instead of just childrens stuff). You can purchase most of them online. I suggest browsing colouring books on Amazon to get an idea of what they look like, and reviews from customers, and then purchasing them through Book Depository (this option is better for Australians, because we can't buy items off Amazon without huge shipping fees, Book Depository is free).

See below for a look inside each book!

Sunday morning outfit, and some cross stitch

We had a breakfast at my parents place this morning, in honour of my little sisters, Heather's, birthday (which is next week). We had pancakes! Afterwards, my sister Kirsty and I went shopping and got a whole bunch of cool things.
I'm wearing:
Cardigan: Asos
T-shirt: Ebay?
Skirt: Big W
Tights: We Love Colors
Boots: Justin Roper Boots

Below are some cross stitch patterns that I've finished recently.

Cross stitch for a friend. I found the pattern free online [here]

UK: End of the Trip

(Author note: You're probably aware how late this post is. I traveled in 2013, and it is now 2016! This is what depression and procrastination gives you. Hopefully it won't take this long for me to post travel pictures in the future)
Open the below for my 2013 UK trip with lots of photos.

It's a nice day for a Goth wedding

Today I was invited to the wedding of two of my friends. The weather was sunny, which was a relief as it has been threatening thunderstorms and rain all week. The ceremony was held in Queens Gardens in Perth, and the reception was at a pub. The whole day was very lovely, and it's so good to see such a happy couple. I also got to see some acquaintances that I regularly see out clubbing, it's so strange to see them in the day time ;-)

I wore a new dress I purchased from City Chic especially for the occasion. It's titled Fleetwood Maxi Dress, and you can see from how flowy it is that it's Stevie Nicks inspired. I would really like to dance in this dress in the future, I'll probably wear it to my next club event.

I tied the dress together with:
Belt: Torrid
Tights: We Love Colors
Winklepickers: Pennangalan

In my hair I wore a combination of flower clips I found. The bat necklace is from ebay.
I'm a bit annoyed because I wanted to wear a different lipstick but I couldn't find it! I had to make do with an old one.

I finally also got to wear these fantastic earrings that I was saving for a special occasion. They have different colours shimmering through, mainly green.

READ

To honor the passing of David Bowie, the American Library Association has re-released the famous Bowie 'Read' poster which was created in 1987 [link]
As soon as I heard about this I knew I needed to purchase one asap. I've been wanting one of these posters for years, but I could never find one.
I was devastated to find that the ALA does not ship overseas :(
Luckily, my New York friend, Mo, came to the rescue and she kindly acted as my go between in order to purchase and ship to Australia. (Thanks again, Mo, for being wonderful!!)

I'm very happy with my poster, and I'm looking at getting it framed or block mounted in order to preserve it better. This is a really lovely poster, and I can't wait to put it near my book case.
Frankly, I still haven't been able to process the passing of David Bowie. I won't be posting anything about his death, because I don't think I can put into words how much he meant to me.

Work Experience

This week I've been completing work experience at the West Australia Museum Library, at their warehouse location. I'm doing this as part of my Librarian bachelor degree, and I'm there for three weeks.
There is a lot of interesting things in the museum storage warehouse, although sadly I'm not allowed to take photos of anything (security risk). But I've seen the famous blue whale skeleton (it's huge!), a wall full of animal skulls with horns, and a new specimen of a sunfish (aka, Mola Mola). It's very exciting to see different things!

Luckily, I am able to take photos within the library. We have some cool bat lithograph prints by Gould.

This is my favourite one, I love the little fat bat hanging from the tree!

The taxidermy bird who overlooks the library.

The library is very small, it only has two employees, and it's not open to the public. I'm enjoying my time there, as I haven't had experience in a special library before.
